Multi media carboard lo-fi

I soon began the execution of my multi media pieces in cardboard. I used a glue gun to assemble the pieces and executed them in a quick yet lo-fi style with simple flat colour. The style looks abstract and is the direction I would like to go in with the ceramic counterparts

Narrative project take 2.

Each judge will be represented in animal form of which charateristics they are trying to hide. Each are equally predatorial.
Louis will be represented by a rat because of his brown-nosing and otherwise repulsive demeaner.
Cheryl will be represented by a fox to show manipulation in graceful and beautiful disposition
Danni will be depicted as a pelican. Over the years she has had extensive cosmetic surgery to reduce the size of her nose, her insecurity with herself is her downfall.
Simon will be represented as a wolf due to his predatorial and ferocious nature.

Narrative project take one.

After recieving the narrative project I began to brainstorm Ideas and latched onto the idea of myths and legend. I brainstormed various avenues including greek/roman mythology, Medieval, Religious and elvan/fictional mythology. It was during my exploration of imagery for greek mythology and the titans that I stumbled across the theatrical advertisement or poster for the film clash of the titans.

Upon viewing this I began to think of the entertainment industry in a mythological form. These fantastic fables were a form of entertainment at one point and the legend and fable would be equal to the standard of celebrity we see today. I found this interesting and thought of who would be considered the gods of today and what platform would be equivical to the standard of lore in Greek mythology. In my research I have realised television is now a multi billion dollar industry and has lost the innocence of the fantastical fable counterpart. There is now a cult of fame and obsession with celebritys and being famous. This then led me onto examining reality television such as the xfactor. The contestants flock to be mocked, criticised, swallowed and spat out into this industry and are at the mercy of a panel of judges. The judges appear glamorous and larger than life but are each hiding undesirable aspects of themselves and persona for the camera. This finally led me onto the theme for my project, I will examine the xfactor but through the use of animal imagery to represent each judge and the aspects they would wish to hide.

Ceramics head making

Christy Keeney distinguished ceramic sculptor visited and gave a workshop to us on head making.

After Christie Keeney ceramic sculptor visited and did a workshop with us we began constructing heads. As part of my narrative project I was focusing on the word myths and zooming in on Greek mythology. As a result I modelled my head in a typical grecian style adding smooth long hair and toga dress similar to that of aphrodite the greek goddess of love. To start I coiled the shoulders, smoothed them and allowed them to stiffen. I then added the head itself with a large slab. I began constructing facial details and added further slabs for the hair and dress slowly modelling the head into the shape i desired. When the piece had dried I sanded it to move any rough edges. The piece was then fired and completed.

Ceramics elective.

As I have chosen ceramics its clear I particularly enjoyed this elective. My ceramic designs in the elective were based on floral and spiral patterns... These are the pieces I created.

Painting elective.

Painting elective comprised of the creation of an instillation and a response to that through the application of paint. As there was not much development and I had no real interest in this elective. I will include all of my paintings in this post aswell as the pictures of our instillation. I also copied a painting by lucian freud during this time. Paintings are executed by brush and pallete knife
