Painting elective.

Painting elective comprised of the creation of an instillation and a response to that through the application of paint. As there was not much development and I had no real interest in this elective. I will include all of my paintings in this post aswell as the pictures of our instillation. I also copied a painting by lucian freud during this time. Paintings are executed by brush and pallete knife

Final entry in sculpture

To wrap up my project i decided to direct a short video on the emotional reprecussions of gossip. The poem, "and she was gone", tells of a girl who took her own life due to bullying. My video reenacts the story of the poem. Ive also included in this post photo hilights of my videos.

Cage take 2

Furthering the idea of a cage within a cage and the use of feathers to convey gossip I have completed a large scale piece with all of the themes I have stated before in mind. The feathers show the gossip trying to escape and how each feather will spread to the wind making it impossible to take each one back. While the cage represents our lips trying to contain the words that are slipping out.

Gossip on camera

While also working physically, I decided to create a video piece to examine the spread of gossip and how people will speak freely when they feel they are anonomous. This video shows the spread of gossip and how anonymity can change a persons demeanor. I created a script to show a typical situation in which a person will succumb to the spreading of rumours. The identity of each subject is hidden by a polorisation of the camera.

containment pt 2

Upon the completion of my paper exploration, I explored containment again through a cage but this time constructed from wire. The idea was that the feathers would seep out of the cage furthering the concept that some conversations, comments or gossip cannot be contained. This cage would act as a mock up for the larger version.

Paper containment

I continued my exploration on the subject of gossip through the use of feathers as a metaphor for how unpredictable and unchangable it is. To start however I examined the idea of containment through the creation of several cages from cutting out black and white card with the idea of a cage within a cage within a cage.
